Bladebound

Bladebound is a Metroidvania x Souls-like, inspired by many of the games we have played. 

Long ago, a kingdom forged an accursed sword, said to carry the soul of a fallen god. The blade could not be wielded without consuming its master, and so it was bound in ritual and sealed forever together with its wielder. When the kingdom fell to war, the sword’s legend faded into myth—until whispers of its power began to spread once more.

You play as a Samurai, a masterless warrior, who awakens in a ruined land poisoned by the sword’s curse. Bound by fate, your soul is tethered to the blade itself, and with every strike you draw closer to either liberation… or damnation
